Urban Technologies in the former airport TXL

The opening of BER Airport in the south-east of Berlin will mark the beginning of a new era for the city‘s former Airport Tegel. 

Tegel is to become a top address for urban technologies.

The number of people living in cities worldwide is increasing by 73 million each year. By 2020, 70 % of the world‘s population will live in cities, some of which have not even been built yet.

Increasing demand for technologies

Growing urbanization, globalization, demographic change, shortage of resources and climate change are foreseeable and far-reaching changes that will redefine what we expect of economic, social and ecological co-existence. The striking terminal building will be the starting point and heart of this development. The central area of the airport grounds will soon be ready for use while proximity to the motorway and the city centre will ensure easy access.
